Summary
*Please note that this tour is on the 19th, not 18th like in the newsletter*
Many of us are familiar with Summit County’s rich mining past, but what became of the land after the mines and dredges went silent? Join Rose Adler-Rephan from the Blue River Watershed Group for an engaging journey through history (and the future) as she describes the environmental, economic, and social impacts of mine reclamation. Discover how the region transformed after mining, and what lessons we can learn from the Swan River restoration efforts.
We will meet for 2:00pm at the Blair Witch Trailhead on Tiger Rd before hopping back in our cars to move down near the Tiger Road ORV lot. We will be walking a short distance. Please note that there will not be cell phone coverage.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Our mountain weather can change from warm and dry to cold and wet in a hurry, especially in fall!
Please be prepared with the following:
Hiking or walking shoes
Warm layers
Rain (or snow!) gear, hat, sunglasses
Sunscreen, emergency medications
Plenty of drinking water
Snacks
Pets and smoking are not permitted on this hike.
Event Registration is closed.
