Many beautiful and interesting birds come to these mountains to breed in summer. Bring your binoculars and join FDRD and Mark Rubash as we see, hear, identify and discuss the biology of the avifauna of Summit County. This will be a 3-4 hour easy to moderate hike starting at the the Salt Lick Trailhead.

Don't forget your binoculars!

Location: Meet at the Salt Lick trailhead in Wildernest/Silverthorne (here)

Note the early start--7:30 am. The early bird gets the worm!

Our mountain weather can change from warm and dry to cold and wet in a hurry!

Suggested things to bring Include:

  • Binoculars
  • Hiking or walking shoes
  • Comfortable clothing - layers work well
  • Rain gear, hat, sunglasses
  • Sunscreen, insect repellent, emergency medications
  • Plenty of drinking water and snacks

Pets and smoking are not permitted on this hike.
